CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH

C2 Proficiency (CPE), C1 Advanced (CAE), B2 First (FCE), B1 Preliminary (PET)

I am very proud that, during my teaching career in Oxford and online, I have been able to help hundreds of students from all over the world pass the Cambridge exam they have aimed for. Not only has this helped them to gain employment or enter educational establishments in the UK, but it has also helped those who have returned home to move forward in their careers and education. I have extensive experience in the following tests,
C2 Proficiency (CPE), C1 Advanced (CAE), B2 First (FCE) and B1 Preliminary (PET).

C2 PROFICIENCY (CPE)

A C2 Proficiency qualification shows that you can:

  • study demanding subjects at the highest level, including postgraduate and PhD programmes

  • negotiate and persuade effectively at senior management level in international business settings

  • understand the main ideas of complex pieces of writing

  • talk about complex or sensitive issues, and deal confidently with difficult questions.

Formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE), the C2 Proficiency exam is the highest level exam that you can take in the English language.

If you want to prove that you have truly mastered the language and that you are able to use it with complete competence in the workplace or any academic setting, this is the exam for you.

For further information and to see if you want to aim for the highest, please contact me or take a look at this official information from Cambridge English.

C1 ADVANCED  (CAE)

A C1 Advanced qualification shows that you can:

  • follow an academic course at university level

  • communicate effectively at a managerial and professional level

  • participate with confidence in workplace meetings or academic tutorials and seminars

  • express yourself with a high level of fluency.

Proving that you have the necessary skills for work and academic purposes at C1 level and accepted by 9,000 educational, business, and government institutions around the world, C1 Advanced (previously known as Cambridge English: Advanced) is a stepping stone between B2 level and C2. Students often ask if it is necessary to have the B2 First certificate before they can prepare for the C1 Advanced exam and the short answer is that we cannot know until we have further information and have assessed your current level. From my experience, even if you don’t take the B2 exam, it is often advisable to get a good knowledge of this test before moving up to C1 level. This is because it helps you to get a solid understanding of any language knowledge and exam skills needed to be successful at Advanced. However, we just do not know until we speak to you so please get in touch or, for more information, please visit Cambridge English.

B2 FIRST (FCE)

A B2 First qualification shows that you can:

  • communicate effectively face-to-face, expressing opinions and presenting arguments

  • follow the news

  • write clear, detailed English, expressing opinions and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view

  • write letters, reports, stories and lots of other types of text.

This is the most popular Cambridge exam and shows that you are able to live and work independently in an English speaking country.  If you want to aim for C1 or C2 level in the future, this B2 level exam is a perfect place to start. Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced, and C2 Proficiency all have similar elements in the exam (with some variations) so, if you are able to obtain a solid understanding of this lower-level test, it will help you with your further studies in the future. Please visit Cambridge for more info.

A B1 Preliminary qualification shows that you can:

  • read simple textbooks and articles in English

  • write letters and emails on everyday subjects

  • take meeting notes

  • show awareness of opinions and mood in spoken and written English.

If you would like to improve your study, work, and travel options by showing that you have a very good understanding of the basics of the English language, this is one of the first stages of developing your ability to communicate in practical situations.
